Words of Wisdom from Hamilton Personal Trainers…Starting Out
By murray | May 19, 2009
When embarking upon any program of physical exercise, ultimately your success depends on your persistence (working through the challenges you face), and consistency (adhering to a regular weekly routine). Establishing both
short and long-term goals will give you something concrete to focus on, while providing you with positive feedback once your goals have been reached. With the right combination of dedication, perseverance, education and enjoyment, you will achieve success. Keep your goals realistic, and NEVER GIVE UP.
PERSISTENCE, “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” Calvin Coolidge
The above quote by a former U.S. president is timeless and will always be true. We believe that this quote goes hand -in-hand with the following proverbs:
“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
“While the journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step, it also continues with one…”
While these saying may be quite common and simple, they speak volumes about the benefits of persistence and hard work.
CONSISTENCY is the truest measure of performance. Almost everyone can have a great day, or even a good year, but true success is the ability to perform well day in and day out, year after year, under all kinds of conditions. Consistency requires concentration, determination, and repetition. To be at your best all the time, you must:
*Take setbacks in stride. Don’t brood over reverses, learn from them.
*Take pride in yourself. The things you do well are the things you enjoy doing.
*Take extra pride in the things that you have worked hard to achieve: recognizing your successes and rewarding yourself will build self-esteem and establish confidence in your abilities.
P.S. CELEBRATE AFTER VICTORY !!!
