You are not a stupid person. Not by any means.

In fact, it's my guess that you're healthier than most.

You probably exercise regularly. You watch what you eat. You keep up-to-date on the latest health concerns. You don't binge on sugar.

And you never - ever - eat fast food. Well, almost never.

But you do have a few unhealthy skeletons in your closet -ones that you probably aren't even aware of.

The following 5 Stupid Things are frequently committed by health conscious people. Once you break these bad habits, you'll find that achieving your weight loss goals just became a whole lot easier.

1. You're Dehydrated

* It has been said that 75 percent of the population is chronically dehydrated. Would you disagree? When was the last time that you actually drank 8 glasses of water in a day?
* Dehydration occurs when more fluid leaves your body than is taken in. Symptoms include: fatigue, irritability, headaches, nausea, rapid heart rate, and, in extreme cases, even death.
* Dehydration also slows your metabolism, which hinders weight loss.

You shouldn't wait until the feeling of thirst or dry mouth hits you, at that point damage has already been done. Instead, constantly rehydrate throughout your day to avoid dehydration.

The best way to do this is to incorporate water into yo

How much thought do you put into what you eat?

If you want to get into great shape then you'll be interested to know that 80% of your fitness results are attributed to your diet.

In our fast-paced society, eating is often done with little or no thought as to what exactly it is being ingested. Excess body fat is a direct outcome of this hurried, poor nutrition. Even if you have the best intentions with your diet, you are likely frustrated and fed up with extra pounds.

The media surely doesn't help. One day the talking heads want you to give up all fats. The next day carbs are the culprit, and then acai berries become the holy grail of weight loss.

The food manufacturers increase confusion by printing misleading labels and bogus health claims.

Sometimes it seems like the whole system is set up to confuse and frustrate us into buying the latest and greatest packaged food.

The bottom line is that your physique is largely a result of what you eat, so the foods that you put into your body should be carefully selected.

It's time to re-examine what you eat.

It all starts with reading nutritional labels. The nutritional content and ingredient list will give you everything you need to know about the quality of the food item.

I've outlined 5 ingredients that should raise a red flag when you turn over that package and find them listed:

I don't know if you are one to make New Year's Resolutions or not, but either way you're probably thinking about how you can become fitter, healthier and happier than you are right now.

These 27 Fitness and Fat Loss Tips will get you on the right track for this New Year:

1. Visualize the accomplishment of your goals each and every day. Experience the taste of success and feel that sweet satisfaction.
2. Push the intensity of your workouts. Don't kill time, burn calories by maintaining a challenging intensity.
3. Use smaller plates at home. This effortlessly reduces calorie intake and promotes weight loss.
4. Build accountability into your workouts so that you resist the temptation to take days off. In addition, muscle and tendon elasticity are also improved during the warm up. The warm up should include easy to moderately intense cardiovascular activity for 3 to 15 minutes (eg: walking, cycling or stepping) and a flexibility exercise for each muscle group to be trained that day. During the warm up, heart rate should gradually rise to approximately 50 to 60 % of maximum heart rate.
At the onset of light cardiovascular exercise during the warm up, the metabolic rate increases, so body temperature rises, which causes you to sweat. In addition, blood flow to the exercising muscles increases and the muscles extract more oxygen from the blood. This results in more efficient energy production in the muscle.l
As the warm up continues and heart rate is gradually increased, the body begins the process of fat cell mobilization. Depending on your body's efficiency at burning calories, it can take 12 to 15 minutes or more of continuous, moderately intense cardiovascular exercise before your body begins to burn fat.

COOL DOWN: The cool down period after your workout is equally as important as the warm up. Basically, the cool down contains the same components as the warm up, only in reverse: begin the cool down with some stretching (this part is even more important if you did not stretch during the warm up – every workout should include some stretching), followed by some light cardiovascular exercise (again, walking, cycling or stepping). The cool down is an excellent time to begin replenishing your body's fluids: drink lots of water!

THE COOL DOWN PERIOD AFTER YOUR WORKOUT IS EQUALLY IMPORTANT AS THE WARM UP…. REMEMBER TO DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!!

Research suggests that an evening out with friends can increase our food consumption by almost half. Be especially diligent when you're socializing. Order half portions, you'll be amazed at how little food you need to feel satisfied. Wave away the bread basket and butter. Order extra vegetables and a salad to start the meal and avoid rich dressings, bacon bits, extra cheese and croutons. Avoid creamy soups and sauces. Drink water or seltzer to satisfy your thirst or have milk, which is an easy way to meet your daily food group requirements. Substitute milk for cream in your coffee.

Order grilled, skinless chicken, fillet mignon, grilled lean pork or lamb, fresh fish poached, grilled or broiled without oil. Black pepper, garlic and lime wedges add a lot of low calorie zest. Enjoy a baked potato or baked sweet potato rather than french fries. Make simpler food choices, choose a plain burger rather than one with added toppings. Order fresh fruit for desert. If you crave something more devilish then offer to split it with your dinner guests.

Select restaurants that offer lots of variety and are willing to customize your order to meet your needs. Ask for what you want, even if it isn't on the menu. Take home leftovers, if the portions are large. Pay particular attention to what your kids are eating. Children menus tend to be heavy on fat and low in selection. Recent studies suggest that a single restaurant meal designed for children can exceed a full day's caloric and fat recommendations. You can help cut calories by eliminating the french fries that are included with almost every meal. Requesting that the meal be grilled rather than fried, or even by substituting the starch with a side salad or veggies.

Using some of these guidelines as part of the selection process can make dining out a pleasurable and healthy experience.
